Largest Solar Electric System !

Energy is one of the most critical issues facing humanity for the future. Solar energy can make an important contribution to ensure a sustainable energy supply. Probably that’s why United Natural Foods Inc., a Dayville, Conn.-based distributor of natural and organic foods has finished the installation of what it calls the largest solar electric system in New England.

The 550-kilowatt STC solar photovoltaic system from SCHOTT Solar, installed at the Company's state-of- the-art distribution facility in Dayville, CT, is expected to generate approximately 600,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy annually, enough to power more than 67 average New England homes for one year. The system output will avoid over 14 million pounds of carbon dioxide over the 25-year life of the system.
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc., awarded UNFI a $1.9 million grant for the installation, through the fund’s On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program. Solar power is booming. A forecast by the WBGU suggests that solar power will account for 63% of global energy generation by 2100.

Porsche 912 Turned To Electric Car !

Porsche 912 turned out to be a sales success, outselling the 911 for the first two years they were both on the market. Ultimately, though, the faster and more expensive 911 won out and the 912 was discontinued.
This great invention was made by two germans who take out the gasoline engine and replacing it with a electric engine which comes with 88 bhp, a top speed of 160 km/h and has a 90 km reach with an average speed of 100 km/h.
Porsche 912 have a four-banger tossed in favor of an 88-horsepower electric motor.
To power Porsche 912 need to have 400 kg of batteries

Your Press Could Power Your Cellphone or Laptop

We spend a lot of time charging our gadgets, but the solution comes at the Gadgets Design Competition 2008 who shows up a system invented by Alexander Parker, that could power your laptop, cellphone, or other device that has buttons as an input, to an extent that could replace your battery.
By removing wall outlets from the electrical consumption of cell phones you're saving nearly 0.144kW a day, or 52.560kW a year. This is because if a cell phone charger is left plugged in, it still uses the same amount of energy per each hour of the day, until unplugged.
The system could also be implemented in other button-tap devices like laptops, keyboards, or other computing devices .
This invention will be very usefull and could potentially reduce the amount of non-green resources.

Largest Solar Power in USA

Governor of Pennsylvania Edward G. Rendell has broken ground for USA’s fourth largest solar power facility. The facility likely to be completed by September or October this year will meet energy requirement of approximately 400 homes in the Bucks County of Pennsylvania.

The $20 million owned by Epuron Solar Center will feature 16,500 solar panels on a 16.5-acre tract of land adjacent to Waste Managements GROWS Landfill. Governor Rendell announced the project in August.

The solar plant will annually produce approximately 3,700 megawatt hours of power, which is enough to meet the energy requirements of approximately 400 homes. At this output, emission levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide that directly contribute to pollution and acid rain will be reduced by the equivalent of planting 33 acres of trees every year or taking more than 440 cars off the road each year.

Pennsylvania has committed to reaching a solar capacity of more than 860 megawatts by 2021.

With Exelon-Epuron solar center coming up with a 3-megawatt capacity project, further future investment in solar facilities are required in the state. One of the greatest impediments of setting up alternative energy facilities is the high cost of these projects compared with the conventional energy sources. Nevertheless, the Pennsylvanian Governor believes that once these solar energy facilities would be established it would help to bring down costs.

First Green Tower Powered by Solar and Wind Energy

Smith and Gordon Gill have created the Clean Technology Tower concept. They propose to to have wind turbines positioned at the corners of the building to harness the high velocity winds that accelerate around the top of the tower.A domed double roof cavity positioned at the apex, where wind speeds are at a maximum, a domed double roof cavity directs the wind towards an array of wind turbines.

This tower includes over 1.8 million square feet of office space along with a 300,000 square foot hotel, a spa and street-level retail rounding off the complex.
The negative pressure created by the turbines will be used to ventilate interior spaces. The dome itself is shaded by solar cells that capture the southern sun.

Pedal and Solar Powered Green Boat

Jonathan Mahieddine is a french designer who has designed the human and solar powered concept boat which works both by pedaling and by the solar power offered by its panels.Jonathan Mahieddine has already developed defined concept boats and this new concept is going to be pretty luxurious too, because of the comfort the boat will offer, wherein you can relax with your family and friends, and you can even take a sun bath.

This boat has a wide deck wherein you can relax with your family and friends, and you can even take a sun bath. It is not huge, but is enough for a family to have a good time. The boat gives you both exercise and when done with that, you have the option of solar panel energy that can be used.
The designer conceptualized the project in high school, but it is not a concept anymore as the designer has further developed the project with the Numero Design agency.
